Mechanical Design Engineer

This role is all about making the pieces of the puzzle fit together. This company develops and produces state-of-the-art technology for the top end of the international high-tech community. Examples include a complex lithography machine, a compact electron microscope, a smart home automation systemor an electric self-charging car. You will be joining a team of enthusiastic electronics, software, mechanics, mechatronics and mathematics specialists.

What you like:

• A demanding role where you will be heavily involved in generating innovative concepts and solutions in the field of (precision) mechanics
• Be a sparring partner to the architect(s) and you take ownership in translating specifications into innovative concepts and design solutions in the mechanics domain
• Performing on the required (hand) calculations and tolerance analysis
• Defining critical-to-quality dimensions and visualize these concepts and designs in 3D
• Working together with alongside architects, system designers, fellow designers and engineers, you will contribute to the overall development of the product
• Using your expertise to be instrumental in ensuring that the designed products meet the customer needs and are manufacturable, can be assembled, tested and serviced efficiently
• Collaborating with suppliers to align on manufacturability, availability of components, and the use of vendor components

What you bring:

• A completed BSc of MSc of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electro-mechanics
• 5 years of experience and expertise in the design of mechatronic and precision systems
• Experience in (one or more) of the fields of FEM, Dynamics, Flow and/or thermal analyses and Optics is desired
• Creativity and skilled in finding design solutions based on multidisciplinary requirements and concepts
• Excellent knowledge and experience with Design for excellence (DFX: cost, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, etc)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to support other engineers and more junior designers
